Children are not the face of this pandemic but they risk being among its biggest victims, as per a report released by the United Nations in April 2020.
In India, the crisis is increasing for marginalized children. Migrant child laborers, street children, child beggars and farmers’ children trapped midway, are fighting more than they can at their age. There are more than 10 million child laborers in India.
In the month of March 2020, Murali, a 11-year-old child labourer died after walking for three days towards his home in Chhattisgarh from the state of Andhra Pradesh.
As a child, Grace lived on the streets of Vijayawada and begged for food from strangers. Her father, an alcoholic, and her mother, a daily-wager, had barely enough to provide her with a home or two square meals a day. So she spent her pre-teen years on mercy of good Samaritans and scouting for leftovers from waste baskets.
James, a 12-year-old street child, said he could not return to his village despite COVID-19 outbreak due to stigma and discrimination.
There are countless heart-melting stories of children whose lives have been at stake during this COVID-19.
‘Out of sight, out of mind’ is a famous saying that applies very much during this pandemic.
There are thousands of children and women in Vijayawada city and it’s surrounding places who are in desperate need of food supplies. These are the places where ICI’s team is present.
We are truly thankful for each and every one of you for your generous and sacrificial support which made it possible for us to distribute food supplies to nearly 4,000 families. We wouldn’t be able to do it without your support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
There are another 4,000 families who need your Good Samaritan helping hand. We request you to please pray and help to feed the hungry during this pandemic.

Dalits are the poorest of the poor and have no hope. Dalits have been living without human dignity and respect, and are poorest of the poor in Indian society. For the last 3,000 years since the inception of the Caste system, Dalits lives are largely unchanged.
India is the biggest democratic country in the world with more than 1.2 billion people. Many things have changed in India since its Independence 72 years ago but not Dalit’s lives who comprise nearly one-quarter of India, with population estimation of 300 million. Dalits also called the “Untouchables,” “Outcastes,” and most recently “Slumdogs,” are still in a hopeless situation with no hope for the future.
