Pavithra’s parents are labourers on agricultural fields. As such, their meagre wages do not support their daughters education. As they wanted Pavithra and her sister to be educated, in 2010 they approached our LIGHT Home for support.
We gladly accepted Pavithra and her sister Anjali and gave them admission to join LIGHT Home. They came to us at a young age and have been with us since then. We have seen Pavithra grow from a tiny, timid and shy girl to become a very active, loving and intelligent girl with great leadership qualities.
Pavithra is recognized for her God given talents and skills. She is not only an excellent dancer but also a gifted singer. Pavithra leads our children ministry with enthusiasm, dedication and compassion.
Pavithra’s dream is to become a Chartered Accountant and eagerly stated, “I’m very excited and overjoyed to join the CA course,”.
CA is a five-year course which needs a lot of hard work, commitment and dedication. But we are confident that she will finish the course with flying colours.
We are so privileged to be part of Pavithra’s journey – a girl who was born into poverty, whose future became unknown but now her life is completely transformed. Her parents hoped that Pavithra would get some form of education and now she is on her way to become a Chartered Accountant, which is not common for a Dalit girl.
What a great joy to be part of Pavithra’s success story. Stories like Pavithra give immense joy and encouragement to go on the mission that God has given us, that is to empower everyone everywhere to live with dignity.
There are many other Dalit children who are studying at our school gifted like Pavithra. Consider partnering with us to empower the next generation.

LIGHT HOMES
Australia
Light Home is dedicated to provide a safe and secure environment for orphan, poor, abandoned, neglected and underprivileged children of India. Also, focused on imparting good standards of education and health to children to become better citizens.
India is the biggest democratic country in the world with more than 1.2 billion people. Many things have changed in India since its Independence 72 years ago but not Dalit’s lives who comprise nearly one-quarter of India, with population estimation of 300 million. Dalits also called the “Untouchables,” “Outcastes,” and most recently “Slumdogs,” are still in a hopeless situation with no hope for the future.
